About The Author

As a Senior Investment Analyst in venture capital, I have led investment sourcing, due diligence, investment, and portfolio management activities, with deep sector expertise in fintech and healthtech. Prior to my foray into venture capital, I was a management consultant supporting medium to large-sized pan-African organizations across diverse sectors like healthcare, telecommunications, clean energy, and mining in critical areas like corporate strategy, operations management, and consumer intelligence.

My career is built on a solid foundation as a business management graduate (First Class) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where I also received the Vice Chancellor’s award for the best-graduating management student. I am also wrapping the final stages to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in Nigeria.

The most exciting part of who I am is my tireless passion to make an impact. I believe life would be too boring if we only lived to serve ourselves. This goal of serving others drove me to write the book “365 Days in Venture Capital,” start a YouTube channel where I discuss finance and career hacks, and mentor startups on platforms like TVCLabs, MentorPitch, NSIA Prize for Innovation, Omniverse Deal, SeedStars Africa Venture, and Zeckathon.

This drive didn’t just start today; even as a corps member back in 2019, I designed and implemented a project to train 200 undergraduate students in Zaria, Kaduna State, on research and data analysis. Later, I led Project Startup Asaba to revive the spirit of entrepreneurship in Delta State.

The most exciting part of who I am is my tireless passion to make an impact. I believe life would be too boring if we only lived to serve ourselves.

My story:

Why I wrote the Book

I transitioned from management consulting into venture capital. As an experienced hire, I was expected to deliver from day one, which placed significant pressure on me to learn a lot within a short period of time.

More challenging was the fact that much of the material I read was based on developed markets and, in some instances, didn’t apply to the African context. By sheer grit, I was able to navigate this knowledge gap.
This book is for the new analyst intending to build a career in venture capital, for the professional aspiring to transition into venture capital, and for the investor considering investing in VC to diversify their portfolio but who does not have the slightest understanding of the vehicle they are investing in. It is for the founder, who is earnestly seeking VC funding but who does not understand how it works with the people who would back them.

I have done the work and have captured all the essential thoughts in a book comprising 12 chapters, each tackling key areas in venture capital, with practical insights that fit the African reality.
